The Last Life Ring

The Last Life Ring Plot

Leah Morgan grew up in the foster care system and did not find her biological family, the Harrisons, until adulthood. But after the accidental death of their adopted daughter, Chloe, Leah was blamed and emotionally shut out by the entire family for ten years.
When the cruise ship they are traveling on sinks, Leah’s parents and older brother give her their last chance of survival. Yet before they die, they confess that they regret ever bringing her back into the family and hope they will never meet her again in another life.
When Leah is reborn to a time before she reunited with the Harrisons, she makes a completely different choice. Instead of searching for her biological family, she immediately joins Project Aurora, a highly classified federal research program in New Mexico.

Leah accepts their decision and walks away. However, when her identity is accidentally exposed, the Harrisons discover that the daughter they rejected is actually a brilliant scientist. Filled with regret, they begin trying to bring her back home.
But the moment Chloe cries and makes a scene again, the family still expects Leah to be the one who gives in.
This time, Leah finally gives up on them for good and secretly enters Project Aurora.
Soon afterward, an accident occurs at the research center, and the outside world mistakenly believes that Leah has died. The Harrisons finally break down under the weight of their regret. But instead of truly changing, they begin treating Chloe with the same emotional coldness and neglect they once inflicted on Leah.
Only when they finally see Leah alive again do they understand what they have truly lost.
By then, however, Leah no longer needs the family she spent two lifetimes longing for. In her mentor, Henry Walsh, she has already found the fatherly love
